Glazed Meyer Lemon Cakes
Whoo hoo! Top Chef tonight! Second to last episode! I'm on the West Coast so I've been careful to avoid spoilers online...and if you are reading this and have Top Chef on your DVR, um, come back later!
Okay, this morning I made these Everyday Food's Glazed Lemon Cakes using Meyer lemons.
Quick fire with three kicked off chefs...and crawfish. Please, please don't come back Leah. Seriously.
And in my Access Hollywood moment, I want to know if either Leah or Hosea are with their girl/boy friends anymore.
Okay, Jeff is back but can stay only if he wins the next challenge. Just a wee bit of pressure.
You are supposed to make these in a cupcake pan and then pour the glaze over the top. I decided to use my cute little cupcakey-like molds (what is the proper name for this pan? I'm completely brain dead and concentrating on Top Chef.) And how many people were so sad to have a Fashion Week come and go...with no Project Runway?!? The LA Times had a whole pull out about the sadness that is PRunway's absence and lawsuit...damn, this just says in neon letters that I really need a life...
Yeah, after a cooling, a lemon glaze tops the cake. I could drink the glaze.
Rock on Carla! Your dishes look great and I like your drink (I don't drink and that spritzer looks yum). Carla is like a NCAA Basketball team peaking during March Madness.
I could just reach into the screen and slap Stefan. Seriously b-slap that smirk off his face and his over-confident little head.
Elimination.

Pick Stefan!
Come on, Padma... say, "Stefan."
Oh, so sad. It's Fabio. I loved him. I'll have to drive up the coast and go to his restaurant like Judy of Judy's Gross Eats.
Oh yeah, the cake. Here's the recipe for Glazed Lemon Cakes from Everyday Food. See you next week for the finale. Go Carla!!!
First of all, these look fabulous! I wish I had one right now as I watch Top Chef!
ReplyDeleteI, too, am on the West Coast, so I'm just catching the repeat of Top Chef at the 11pm slot. (Although I caught the end of the 10pm one.) I want to know about the boy/girlfriend situation, too! Maybe we'll find out next week!
THESE LOOK SO NICE. THESE PANS ARE NICER THAN THE CUPCAKES ONES. I USUALLY USE THIS TOO. THESE MUST BE DELICIOUS. I LIKE LEMON CAKES :)
ReplyDeleteThese look so elegantly beautiful. I love the pan, and they look so pretty with the glaze and topping. Are they as moist as they appear. I will have to try this, I love lemon cakes, breads, etc. Thanks for sharing this one!
ReplyDeleteI don't watch Top Chef so I had a tough time following your train of thought! LOL
ReplyDeleteI have a pan similar to yours but mine's a mini bundt pan. I like yours better since it doesn't have the hole in the middle. I'll have to look for one.
I am so drawn to Meyer lemon recipes because I cannot find Meyer lemons around here anywhere. :( Great recipe and photo!

Great post! I really wish Stefan had been eliminated this week and not Fabio. I think the only thing that saved Stefan was the fact that he has won so many challenges. Anyway, the cakes look so cute! They remind me of little bundt cakes minus the middle hole.
ReplyDeleteMan, I was hoping that the TC judged would have eliminated both of the Euros. I was never a fan of Jeff throughout the show, but I totally rooted for him last night--- he really showed his stuff!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely NOT rooting for Stefan --- go Carla and Hosea!!!
Love these baby bundts --- I just juiced and froze a ton of meyer lemons, so I must put this on my "to bake" list.
LOL!! Man, you would be fun to watch these shows with! These lemon cakes look unbelieveably delicious!
ReplyDeleteI love Fabio and I was sad when he was voted off last night. I'll be so interested to see what happens next week and who will be Top Chef!
ReplyDeleteThe little cakes look great!
These are unbelievably beautiful. I might have to get on the Meyer lemon bandwagon one of these days . . .
ReplyDeleteI made these last week and loved them! Yours turned out much prettier though. I love the pan that you used. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI have a mini bundt pan that is begging to be used! I can't wait to try this one!
ReplyDeleteThose look so cute! I actually started watching Everyday Food on Saturdays because of your recipes.
ReplyDeleteI love the juxtaposition of trash talk and a cake walk!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had one of those mini bundt pans. I'll have to settle with making the boring cupcake version with my Meyer lemons.
Those look amazing.
ReplyDeleteThis pan is SO CUTE!!! I have a pan with rose shaped molds and I'm dying to find more recipes for it. Thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I want one of those right now. Can't you send one over to me? :)
ReplyDeleteabsolutely delish... i make a lemon flan that is sooo darn orgasmic, just like these 'cakes :)
ReplyDeleteOkay...I got to the first line and decided to skip to the comments, because I have not watched Top Chef yet! It's waiting for me. I just had to say that I will be back because I want to check out this recipe. Those cakes looks fantastic!!
ReplyDeletemmmm. i love the lemon zest on top!!
ReplyDeleteCupcakey like molds sounds about right to me ;) They do look so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI've heard so much about meyer lemons but they don't exist in Malaysia. Sob. Is it true that they taste like a cross between an orange and a lemon?
I have a ton of limes right now, so I will try a lime version. I was really hoping Fabio would stay. Guess I'll have to console myself by returning to his restaurant for lunch.
ReplyDeleteI am so obsessed with Meyer lemons lately. I think I am getting more this weekend.
ReplyDeleteTC, well I have Time Warner and I can catch the east coast feed of TC. I am so incredibly sad about Fabio. I love him. I don't even know where Moorpark is, but I want to find it and go there and see him. I am kind of rooting for Carla now even though her crazy eyes still creep me out.
These are so cute! I love how delicate they look. And I love anything lemon.
ReplyDeleteThese are so pretty! I love your little cakes. Citrus is so, so good right now.
ReplyDeleteI'm rooting for Carla too! You're so right, she's just getting into her groove. Can't wait till next week!
Love Carla. Wanted Stefan to get kicked off too- he's so arrogant. A friend of mine gets turned on by him because of this. I don't see it. Will miss Fabio. Don't love Jeff so I wasn't sad to see him go, but I'm glad he got another chance.
ReplyDeleteLovely cakes- mini bundts?
Miss PR too!
Such beautiful presentation! Now I need to get me one of those cake pans!
ReplyDeleteThese look fabulous. I saw them on Tastespotting and just had to stop by to say, "wow"!
ReplyDeleteYou're reminding me that I haven't reached into the closet to use part of my ridiculous collection of fancy "couldn't resist just one more" baking pans. And I have this one, and I love lemon cake...and I am so so very green with jealousy that there's someone, ANYONE, who will calibrate your oven, never mind for free!
ReplyDeleteYour Meyer lemon cakes are the bomb! I love the pan, I have the exact same one from Williams-Sonoma. :)
ReplyDeleteThese look so good, I absolutely love lemon cakes. I also love your cupcake molds, they look so much better than a standard mold.
ReplyDeleteAdorable cakes! I don't know what to call your pan but I like it.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait until part 2 of the finale!
These look so pretty! I just made meyer lemon ricotta cookies last night. I was looking for a way to take advantage of meyer lemons while they're in season. Looks like your cakes were a success!
ReplyDeleteHa, that post was too funny.
ReplyDeleteYour babycakes look darlin'....I just finished eating lunch and would kill for one, let me be serious two of those!

Yum, yum and yum. They look perfect! Lemon cake is one of my favorites and meyer lemon is even better.
