Today, I bought $57 toenail clippers at Target. I know! Crazy expensive.
What?
You want to see the receipt?
Oh...
Sure, the clippers are in the bags... and what's this other stuff? new pajamas (flannel, baby!), batteries, fleece jacket (only $10!!), pack of gum...
The other day, I need 1/2 cup of heavy cream for the ganache portion of today's Bundt cake. So...a trip to Trader Joe's was in order. With no list. Just wandering the aisles. And so the cream for this? $83! Dairy is getting so expensive! ;)
For today's Bundt, it's all Martha. Here is Martha Stewart's Chocolate Bundt.
Thanks to my friend JustJenn of JustJennDesigns for making the logo!
I'm making 30 Bundts in 30 days. And. going. crazy. doing. it. Thank goodness we are finally on Day 21! :)
Made with two sticks of butter and 1/2 cup of sour cream, this ain't light. I think I baked it a little long so it was a bit on the dry side...watch the clock on this one.
The ganache topping is my $83 cream, bittersweet chocolate, butter and optional Cognac or rum (I skipped the booze). I should have let my ganache thicken a bit more...but I was in a hurry to get to work.
Huge shout out to my friend and fellow libriarian Jennie. She's a California ex-pat in Kentucky and has been baking up Bundts galore! Check out her big Bundts here.
And, keeping with the library theme, my little project was in ALA Direct - the American Library Association's e-newsletter (scroll to the bottom). Library geekness! :)
We are closing in on National Bundt Day (November 15th!) Come back tomorrow for another Bundt. And if you need even more ideas of Bundts to make, check back on Sunday for a parade of Bundts I've made in the past!

ReplyDeleteAnd that is a tasty big bundt!
ReplyDeleteHahaha - you are hilarious - that tends to happen to me a lot at Target..and Trader Joe's .. and most stores. ;)
ReplyDeleteI made this bundt last year and I thought mine was dry too...maybe it needs more cream? Milk? It's pretty and your topping looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteOh chocolate nom nom nom! You crack me up with your $83 cream LOL What the heck are you doing with all these cakes? ;)
ReplyDeleteThat happens to me all the time! I go into a store to buy one item and the trip ends up costing me a $100! The cake looks delicious.
ReplyDeletehang in there...you are almost done!! If it helps...I am loving reading your blog and can't imagine how you are doing this...I would be soooo ready to be DONE...thanks for a great blog...
ReplyDeleteYou may be going crazy but I am loving my daily bundt dose. I'm going to be so sad when this is over.
ReplyDeleteMary, you're a star. Keep up the pace. You're almost to the finish line!
ReplyDeleteGotta love Target, my husband not so much.
ReplyDeleteAll of your bundts have looked just fabulous!
Hahaha I know the feeling of overspending. I'm always doing that! My poor boyfriend hates when I go into Target because I always start wondering.....
ReplyDeleteAlso the bundt looks tasty and super chocolaty...yum :)
Dry or not, that bundt looks bundelicious!
ReplyDeleteHeh, the same thing happens to me all the time. I go into the drug store to get some toothpaste, and $100 later I leave - and have managed to forget the toothpaste, too. ;) That cake looks wonderful. We just had our first snowfall of the year, so it's making me want something comforting.
ReplyDeleteI've been told you are bundt queen, had to come take a look. Today I posted a leftover Halloween candy bundt...but your's looks amazing!!
ReplyDeleteThat looks AMAZING! I think I have to leave work right now and make it. Yum.
ReplyDeleteFinally! A plain, simple cake! haha This one looks great despite the problems you had.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried the Hershey's Chocolate Cake? It always comes out moist. YUM!
ReplyDeleteHaha. I shop the same way! I've been looking for a good chocolate bundt cake recipe. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing every time I go into a store!
ReplyDeleteThis bundt looks terrific.
I'm the same way when I go to TJs, esp when their flyer comes out. That bundt looks real chocolatey, so many choices to bake for my first bundt. Congrats on ALA, btw, way cool! Here's hoping to bake a bundt with you by Nov 15! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the ganache and the denseness of the cake!
ReplyDeleteThe question must be answered; "Who's eating all of your bundts?" Hee hee hee :)
ReplyDeleteThis one looks to die for!! I love the ganache topping!
Looks great. Love your sense of humor! I love big bundts ,too. Have to cuz I've got the junk!!! Seriously, who is eating all your delicious cakes?
ReplyDeleteI tend to purchase eggs or butter for $50 all too often...
ReplyDeleteMmm, chocolate!
ReplyDeleteHi! I believe you know my sister, De Baking Pyschopath? I follow your blog too, I just don't have one of my own b/c I know I won't update it. Anyways, I saw your post on the Hello Kitty exhibit and you mentioned how you'd love to have some of the things.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.jbox.com/SEARCH/hello_kitty_bento
They have a lot more than just bento items too, just search Hello Kitty. They also have a looot of other characters, products, and food from Japan, and I think their shipping isn't too too bad. Might be less for you since you're in CA. (btw, www.jbox.com is the, er, clean version of that site. www.jlist.com is the full site, but contains...shall we say...adult items as well. I stick w/ Jbox. It has everything Jlist has without the other...stuff)
anyways, I thought you might enjoy that. =)
I'm really enjoying your 30 days of bundt, but who is eating all this cake????!!!
ReplyDeleteUm, I think this like is..gorgeousness embodified. Oh my goodness.
ReplyDeleteWow, I love your bundt adventure! soooo coool. where do they all go? I miss baking. Can't wait to try a few of these.
ReplyDeleteWow! I just found your site via a comment left on Noble Pig. I love all of your bundt cakes and can't wait to try some of your recipes. I'm not the most experienced baker in the world and don't always have the best luck with cakes, but for some reason, my bundt cakes usually turn out good.
ReplyDeleteI just have one question...who is eating all these cakes?
Thank you so much for your bundt cake extravaganza! I have had so much fun checking each day to see what was new. I too am a massive bundt cake fan, and I enjoyed trying this new recipe. It looked beautiful at the end and was given high praises from my testers. I think may go into my recipe rotation. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to the next few final days!
ReplyDeletethe i love big bundt logo kills me everytime. i can't help but LMAO at it. it's just too hilarious. amazing.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on bundt 21! I'd also like to know who is the lucky one who gets to sample all your delicious creations?
ReplyDeleteI'm behind on my blog reading, but I am more impressed by each post I read and each bundt I get to see.
