Blueberry-Brown Sugar Plain Cake
For this week's Tuesdays with Dorie selection, Cindy of Everyday Insanity chose Blueberry-Brown Sugar Plain Cake on page 36 of Dorie's book, Baking: From My Home to Yours.
This is another great Dorie recipe. Easy to make. Delicious and, my favorite part, no frosting. Sign me up!
I made this early this morning and dropped it off at my folk's house. My mom works at an elementary school so she brought it to the teacher's lounge.
I didn't have the 2 cups of blueberries...because I ate some of them! :) But I think my cup and a scattering were plenty of blueberries. I threw some blueberries on top to make sure they all didn't sink to the bottom.

I had to laugh - no frosting is one of my favorite things too. That cake looks scrumptious!
ReplyDeleteI'll bet those blueberries are so satisfying when they pop between your teeth -- especially when they're still warm out of the oven!
ReplyDeleteLove your tip for keeping the blueberries from sinking Mary! I tossed mine with flour and that didn't work, your method is perfect.
ReplyDeleteYum! I make something similar called blueberry buckle & it's delicious. It's got blueberries... how could it not be?! :)
ReplyDeleteLike Tracey, I also toss my blueberries in flour... except mine doesn't sink. Wonder why the difference?
I wish I'd used more blueberries in mine. Your cake looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteSmart move with the berries on top... of course, mine sunk. :) Your cake is beautiful - I know those teachers loved it!
ReplyDeleteIt looks delicious! I'm so hooked on her blueberry crumb cake from the same book, that I haven't bothered venturing outside of it.
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic - your mom and her coworkers are lucky ducks! Hmmm, would it work as a bundt?
ReplyDelete@Jessica Jessica, I think this would be a great mini bundt! Yummmmmm....
ReplyDeletesprinkling some berries on top--i wish i had that insight! i'm sure the teachers enjoyed this one.
ReplyDeleteOK, I made the exact same thing but somehow your picture is making me hungry again.....
ReplyDeletelooks fantastic. every picture is scrumptious. awesome job.
ReplyDeletegood idea to sprinkle some on top so they would be evenly distributed. This looks tasty.
ReplyDeleteThanks for baking along with me this week. This cake was so good it didn't need frosting. Vanilla ice cream tasted good though!
ReplyDeleteWow yours looks like it has extra blueberries, not fewer! I loved this cake, too. So yummy.
ReplyDeleteLooks like there are plenty of blueberries. I've read so many great things about this cake, can't wait to make it!
ReplyDeleteGood idea to sprinkle some berries on top - after baking the cake I thought of that, too, but too late for me. Doesn't look at all if you had less berries than needed!
ReplyDeleteUm yummmm!!! What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to make this cake. I definitely am more inspired now - that layer of blueberry looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm - looks so delicious and perfect for summer.
