Pumpkin Spice Bundt
I Like Big Bundts - Day #10
Whoo Hoo! 1/3 done! It's Day #10 of my third I Like Big Bundts celebration! We are only 20 days away from National Bundt Day on November 15th.
You probably see lots of pumpkin (fresh and canned) in the stores now...so why not make a pumpkin bundt?! This one is very soft and has a nice fall spice collection.
This recipe is from the beautiful book, The Art & Soul of Baking by Sur la Table and Cindy Mushet. The original recipe makes a round cake with Maple Cream Cheese frosting...but isn't a Bundt just better?! :) I glazed it with a powdered sugar, milk and vanilla mixture of goodness.
Man, I can eat pumpkin food every day. In Los Angeles, we don't really have "fall" weather or changing leaves (palm trees don't change colors) so we need to use foods as seasonal indicators. I think kids know the seasons when Starbucks Pumpkin Lattes are available.
Isn't this a pretty Bundt pan? It's one of my favorites - Bavarian Nordic Ware Pan. Just be sure to spray it very very well with Pam with Flour, or make sure you grease and flour the pan thoroughly.
Yes, you guessed it, come back tomorrow for yet another Bundt! - mary the food librarian

Gorgeous! I love how the glaze drips through the ridges. Great bundt pan and pumpkin bundt. Kelly
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at the 'the kids know the seasons when Starbucks pumpkin lattes are available'...so true for us here in Florida who get ripped off fall weather wise too! Great looking bundt..love the way the glaze defines the lovely lines in the cake! Getting ready to make a pumpkin bundt today too in my new fall bundt pan :)
ReplyDeleteHehe. Kids knowing the seasons from pumpkin spice lattes. I can send you a bag(or 2 or 3 or 10) of leaves if you want! I have PLENTY. Really. You could scatter them all over your lawn. Think of how festive you would look! I mean, c'mon it's for the kids. Seriously, could someone come and take my leaves please?
ReplyDeletePS I love the way the glaze falls in the nooks and crannies of the Bavarian pan. It makes smile.
It really is a beautiful cake. I'm another one of those who *loves* pumpkin anything! Sadly the crops aren't doing super well this year due to excess rain/floods in some areas and severe drought/fires in others. Stock up while you can!
ReplyDeleteAnd perfect, I just saw that today is National Pumpkin Day! Great pick.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous, Mary! Yum, yum yum!!
ReplyDeleteHi! I love your bundt series, and appreciate your blog all year long. But I have to take issue with that tired old trope that southern California doesn't have seasons. It does, though people who lack subtlety will surely miss them.
ReplyDeleteIn fall, the sunlight changes color and tonality. Days are much shorter. The weather is colder and rainier. Some trees' leaves *do* change color; palm trees aren't the only tree around (and aren't even native, I'm told). In the tonier neighborhoods, a romantic scent of fireplaces burning wafts through the evening hours. Layers of sweaters and scarves are pulled from closets and worn morning and evening. We have seasons, but if you can only observe the broadest strokes nature paints, you might not notice.
Best,
Dawn
@Anonymous dear dawn...thank you for your comment but I was just joking...next time ill put a little smiley face next to any comments like that.
ReplyDeleteI live in Hawaii and I feel the same way about food representing the "change of seasons"-yes, it gets rainier here as well but aside from that, our low temperature at the moment are in the 70s. :-/ So, to celebrate, I've been craving pumpkin every day and this pumpkin bundt looks like a good way to get my fix. :) Mmm. Can't wait to see more bundts!
ReplyDeleteI so enjoy your blog and am printing out this recipe to try! I can smell it right now!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, this bundt looks so good! I love your big bundts!
