World Peace Cookies
What a perfect name for such a delicious cookie!
What a perfect name for such a delicious cookie!
For this week's Tuesdays with Dorie selection, Jessica of cookbookhabit chose World Peace Cookies on pages 138-139 of Dorie's book, Baking: From My Home to Yours. Check out Jessica's blog for the recipe or get the awesome book!
This recipe takes just a few minutes to make...butter, cocoa powder (I used Dutch processed), baking soda, flour, vanilla, brown sugar, salt and bittersweet chocolate. Dorie suggests fleur de sel (salt) but I used Trader Joe's sea salt (with the built-in grinder). Some people had crumbly dough, but I got lucky and it came together okay. I chilled it overnight and sliced it with a sharp knife in the morning. I made half the recipe and got 20 cookies.
If you have a few minutes of mixing time, and an overnight of chilling time, make some of these yummy egg-less shortbread cookies.
Please check out the other Tuesdays with Dorie bakers and see their masterpieces!

I love the 2nd picture, Mary. The cookies look like they've been rumbling! They look fabulous, and thankfully I didn't have any crumbly cookie issues, either!

tes photos sont absolument splendides, ce qui n'était pas évident, car je n'ai pas trouvé que ces biscuits étaient " photogéniques "
Bravo :)
Your pictures are amazing -- I am so jealous! How on earth did you get the cookies to stack like that? They look fantastic!
Your cookies look great! I just googled these cookies yesterday and now they're here---must be fate :-)
I like how you're building peace one cookie at a time. Nice structure.
Fabulous photos! Glad you all enjoyed the cookies!
great looking stack of cookies!!
Yours look all the same - how do you do that?! Beautiful job!
HAHA! I did get crumbly dough, but that didn't stop me! Yum!
Yours look like super model cookies.
Mary, I forgot to ask, what kind of cookie sheets do you use?
I loved these too - your cookies look just perfect!
Those look flipping perfect. Very cool.
The cookies look fantastic and the pictures are lovely.
Love your photos. My cookie dough wasn't crumbly either. I've been baking a few at a time so they will last longer, but I think having some dough in the freezer at all times is the way to go.
Well done, your cookies look fantastic!
Ah, as always, your finished product looks amazing.
Beautiful photos! I made mine several weeks ago, and am sitting here wishing I had some left.. he he ;)

Isn't it great when something so good is actually quick and easy to make? Your cookies look so delicious.
So much goodness in those cookies!!
Your pictures are gorgeous and your WP cookies are perfect! WOW. Great job!
You have some secret for making perfect rounds, I think! I may have a bottle of that TJ's salt in my pantry...will try it for next time.
I love your photos. I'm not the photographer, Corbin, my 15 year old is.....but how do you get the white out background? Looks so elegant. Great job!
BTW your workplace is really a lucky group of folks. Yumm yumm

PS Dorie says Dutch processed happens to help with the crumbly stuff - I learned that just today. :-)
Your cookies look wonderful! I love your pictures.
Your cookies look so nice and round! Lovely as usual!
Wow, they are fabulously, perfectly round!!! I agree you are a PRO!
I love how you've carefully stacked them in that second picture!
I love that first cookie stack picture! I didn't have crumbly cookie issues either. I think it was the overnight chill that helped. Glad you enjoyed the recipe!

Hey - someone else who used the TJ's with grinder Sea Salt! Your cookies look terrific and so perfectly shaped!
Holy crap your cookies turned out absolutely perfect! I attempted making these but halved the recipe (and not the butter!) so I have to try again. Hope mine turn out as gorgeous as yours.
