Avgolemono Soup
Lemon Week continues! I'm usually baking, but a girl needs to eat. And I love to eat soup!
Last month, we had a Lemon Fest at work. My colleague has a huge lemon tree and brought in baskets and baskets of lemons. We had a potluck of lemon themed foods and one of my colleagues made this Greek lemon rice soup. I couldn't wait to make it at home!

My adaptations: I had some leftover rotisserie chicken so I used that instead of poaching chicken in broth. I used long grain white rice and Meyer lemons.

Great recipe....there was a CEIMB recipe we did a while ago that was basically an eggy lemony chicken soup but it has nothing on this recipe. Nice post...I am down to my last four lemons!

What an interesting recipe. Looks so incredibly delicious. Oh - and your parents look delicious too. They are too cute for words and I seriously want to gobble them up.
This has been my very favorite soup since I first had it in Chicago's Greektown more than 40 years ago - but I would think Meyer lemons are too mild and sweet to impart the proper tang.
I made this recipe for dinner the other day, very delicious! with some homemade bread to boot!

i used to have lemon rice soup all the time as a kid! yum!
would have never thought of lemon soup... but you know me - i'm game for anything!
ok - so forget the bakery (since you do more than just bake)...how about a quaint, little cafe???
