Mo-Chica Peruvian Restaurant
UCLA Library school pals Jun, Socrates and I went to Mo-Chica, Modern Peruvian Restaurant near the other school (aka USC) yesterday. OMG! Totally deliciousness. Both Jun and Socrates have been in the past, but it was my first visit...and not my last!
Mo-Chica is known for their ceviche and all the reviews are right. Their ceviche is the best! The potato salad was wonderful too...crab meat with potato, avocado and tomato.
Causa Del Dia peruvian potato salad of the day, $5.00; Ceviche Del Dia, $12.00
Oh yes. Mary had a little lamb. ;) This was my favorite dish. The lamb falls off the bone and all the flavors are rich and perfectly spiced. Our entrees all came with a small bowl of white rice. We shared the dishes family style.
Seco De Cordero lamb shank, canario beans, salsa criolla, cilantoro beer sauce, $13.00
The fish of the day was red snapper...under quinoa risotto. Perfectly cooked fish!
Fish of the Day, $14.00
I love the combo of french fries with beef in Peruvian food. Well, let's be honest, I can pretty much eat french fries with anything.
Lomo Saltado beef filet, salsa criolla, fried potatoes, $13.00
Yeah...we killed it. Everything was delicious!
1) Inca Kola 2) Cebada barley ice tea with herbs and ginger root 3) Chicha Morada purple corn
Drinks $2.00 each
My pals Jun and Socrates.... And, the big news is that Jun and her husband, David are expecting!!! (Remember the beautiful wedding and the crazy dessert bar?!) Congratulations Jun!!! She's due in October and I'm so excited!

That all looks and sounds amazing!
I want to go to Mo-Chica! The food (and prices) sound great!
Everything looks delicious, especially the red snapper! Thanks for sharing, if I get to the West Coast I'll be sure to check it out!
Ooooh, I love Peruvian food. I miss El Pollo Inka in Gardena so much, especially their aji sauce. Inca Cola...YUM! By the way, did you use your Sony point-and-shoot for these photos? I purchased one based on your recommendation and the beautiful photos you took on your cruise last year. I'm having fun playing with it!
Love that place! Did you get the blackboard eats deal? Not sure if it's still going on...
@Lindselicious Yes, we got it that morning! It was perfect timing...we had made plans and then Jun got the email. :) Can't wait to go back too. - mary
@Liz Liz, Yes, I used my Sony point and shoot for these restaurant photos.
Yum. Yet another thing on my to-do list in LA.
looks amazing i'll have to remember to get by there :)
all of that looks so exotic to me!
the lamb looks amaaazing! and i love your "after" pictures haha...i would've devoured everything too
mmmmm peru food... I want... chicha is good ay??
After 3 Mo-Chica visits, I can soundly say I "don't get this place". The causa is tasty, sure, as is the lamb, but the risotto comes out odd every time, with the fish the only portion of that dish, and the pricing borders ludicrous as real estate/labor cost here is nearly non existent.
$13 for a few sticks of fries with a few pieces of beef just doesn't work for my wallet.
